Preheat the oven to 350F. Place the raisins in a bowl with just enough boiling water to cover. Leave to stand for 5 minutes. Drain. Cream together the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add the eggs and beat until foamy. Sift together the flour, sugar, baking soda and spices and stir into the egg mixture. Stir in the dates, nuts, raisins and oats. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto a greased cookie sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden-brown.
